Direct Cremation

This is also known as straight case. Instead of holding a funeral wake at a HDB Void Deck or Funeral Parlours, families can also choose to have a direct cremation for their loved ones. This means, after we have cleansed, dressed, and made up the deceased we will head over to Mandai Crematorium for cremation. At Mandai Crematorium, there is a service hall that we can use to have short rituals or prayers for the deceased. The whole process will usually be completed in a day.

There are many reasons why families would prefer to have direct cremation,

  • The deceased requested before he/she passes on
  • The deceased stayed in the nursing home for an extended period of time and does not have many friends who will attend the funeral wake
  • Financial difficulties
  • The deceased has no offsprings and has a small extended family
  • The deceased has a small social circle with a small family

After the cremation, family can either place the remains in a columbarium or perform a sea burial. This will usually take place on the next day.

It is all right to have direct cremation, as it is important to fulfil the deceased final wishes; if that’s what he/she wants. It is also good to be practical and not just follow the trend of having a funeral wake.

Regardless the length of the wake, we will help to give the deceased a dignified final journey.
